Junting Yi is a Chinese conductor who received his bachelor's degree in conducting from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where he studied under renowned conductors Prof. Guoyong Zhang, Chairman of the Chinese Musicians Association, and Prof. Tongyi Cao. He earned his master's degree from Bard College of Music under the tutelage of James Bagwell, and is currently in his first year of the Doctoral of Musical Arts program in Orchestral Conducting at Michigan State University, studying with Mas-Arocas, Octavio. He was awarded second prize in the 4th China Choral Conducting Competition and participated in the rehearsals for the nationally significant project The Long March Suite in 2020. He has received masterclass instruction and acclaim from distinguished maestros including Alexander Polishchuk, Alpaslan Ertüngealp, Mark Gibson, David Hayes, Ye Cong, Xiaoying Zheng, and Tan Dun, and has enjoyed productive collaborations with numerous professional ensembles such as The Orchestra Now, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Qingdao Symphony Orchestra, and Guiyang Symphony Orchestra. China's first female conductor, Xiaoying Zheng, has remarked that Junting possesses astonishing conducting technique and remarkably mature, natural musical understanding, expressing confidence that he will become an outstanding conductor in the future.
