Matthew Gagea is a third-year student in the Lyman Briggs College. He serves as President and Poster Design Chair for the 2024-2025 concert season, and this is his second year on COSA. Matt is thrilled to be working with the COSA team to carry out this year’s plan of work. Matt plans to work with the board to increase engagement and outreach, foster a healthy orchestral community, and support the musicians and conducting staff. His favorite part about being in the orchestra is being a part of a community of people who share his love and dedication to music in an environment catered to those not going into music as their career.
Matt started playing instruments when he was 1 year old, when his mother graciously gave him a toy xylophone, and from there he’s never looked back. His main instrument is piano, which he has been playing for over a decade; and he also plays trumpet, percussion, euphonium, and voice.
He plans on applying to joint graduate and medical school programs, obtaining an MD/PhD, and specializing in the study of the progression of neurodegenerative conditions. After he graduates, he hopes to become a clinical researcher, bringing new technologies and treatments from the lab bench to the hospital room.
