Trumpeter Mark Davis made the Alaska All-State Band/Orchestra every year of high school, including first chair in both the All-State Band and Orchestra. Other honor bands include the Regional Honor Band as well as the High School Honor Band that performed at Carnegie Hall in 2019. In Mark’s last three years of high school, he took Skype lessons from Mark Maliniak of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. He is currently at Michigan State University studying Trumpet Performance with Justin Emerich.
Mark has gone to several summer workshops including the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, Interlochen Trumpet Institute, Rafael Mendez Brass Institute, and Michael Sachs Trumpet College Audition Intensive. Solo performances include Taps at Memorial Services, the Alaska State Solo and Ensemble Competition, and Summer Talent Shows. Throughout high school and college he played/plays in the Davis Brass Quartet at church services and other local events. At Michigan State University, Mark is currently in the Wind Symphony, Concert Orchestra, and Grand River Brass Quintet.
